Christopher Bower

A few months back our son Christopher Bower started feeling extremely dizzy and was having very bad headaches. We went to Prima Care and the Doctor diagnosed him as diabetic and told us that was causing the symptoms. After four trips back to Prima Care over the next month and a half and many medications, he wasn't improving. We then went to Baylor Scott White ER in McKinney and within a few hours had an answer, brain tumor on the Pons.  No Doctor was willing to do a spinal tap for a diagnosis for fear the tumor would herniate and stop his breathing. The neurosurgeons and neurologists all agreed it was an inoperable glioma on the pons, golf ball-sized with a smaller tumor above it.  Without insurance, we were sent home to wait on Medicaid or Medicare to hopefully be approved however his symptoms became so severe we went back to Baylot Scott White ER where Dr. Shivnani started radiation treatment through charity. It was amazing how kind and helpful all the nurses, doctors, and every other employee of the hospital treated us. He has been approved for Medicaid but with treatment and the need for medical equipment, he could use some help.  The social workers did their best to try to secure chemo tablets for him to take along with radiation but were unable. Once they tried again using the Medicaid prescription program,  we were told he had reached his 3 script limit for the month. We are now seeing a brain specialist in Dallas and she will begin the chemo there over the next 12 months. Knowing that we have trust in God and faith for his will to be done we're taking one day at a time. We appreciate anything you can do to help Chris and mostly ask that you bring him before the throne of God in your prayers. Chris is and always has been such a kind human with a heart full of love.
