I first met Christoph Meyer, business owner of Wildlife Tours Peru, on a herping trip to Peru, organised by Matt Cage in February 2025. I had such an amazing time that I decided to return for another vacation, along with someone else who had been on the February trip. This time it would be for herping, birding, fishing and visiting indigenous tribes.

Christoph tailor made us a great itinerary. All was going fabulously well until the day we were due to leave El Chino, the location of his lodge.

THE OUTBOARD MOTORS FOR HIS BOAT WHICH HAD BEEN HEAVILY CHAINED HAD BEEN STOLEN!!!!

Christoph, although absolutely gutted, reorganised the rest of our trip, a night back in Iquitos, then a journey to another lodge using, for the main, public speed taxis. He really stepped up to the mark.

He asked the villagers if they had seen anything suspicious. Three men had called in on the village looking for scrap metal that nobody recognised. Law enforcement were informed. His wife even followed a suspect. No leads.

The motors could have been hidden in the jungle or taken to Iquitos and maybe already sold, maybe to drug runners.

Unfortunately, he does not have the funds just to go and buy two new motors, hence the reason for me setting up this crowd funding.

In my opinion, Christoph is a most thoughtful guy. His knowledge of the jungle wildlife is absolutely amazing. His tours are exciting. He is conscientious, takes his clients safety as a priority.

He didn’t deserve his this to happen to him, hence me setting up the crowd funding. Money raised will go directly to his bank account so that he can buy his much needed new outboard motors which will enable him to continue organising fabulous vacations.
