Help Cyclist Christoph

Hi to everyone who is part of our Oregon Classic Community and is this our plea (from Roy, Tru, Lola and Kelley) to help our fellow rider and ensure that all contributions go directly to Christoph and the inevitable costs of care he will face.  We all live and dream our best hopes, for riding amazing journeys. However, sometimes one of us suffers a loss that is unbearable, the loss of mobility and an imaginable loss of being able to walk again, simply for the joy of cycling, and being in a community that enjoys two wheeling adventures. Christoph ( on the left of the photo) was one of the unfortunate who suffered dearly, in a country not of his own (coming from Germany) and traveling to participate in the wonderful event that is Cycle Oregon for the fourth time! What he didn’t hope for was an accident, a trip to hospital and ending up paralysed from the waist down on the very last day of his trip.  Please consider his terrible fate and plight by donating, as the more we share this burden the more our contributions will collectively make a difference to this horrific situation that Christoph faces. What happened? He was riding cautiously as always, but tried to pass a rider on the left that was riding center, he took a chance at passing, but met with the ditch and tumbled on the left side of the narrow road. He is undoubtedly receiving the best treatment this wonderful USA has to offer, but also facing huge hospital bills and costs.  Can he go home? Yes, but not before paying for all the emergency treatment and rehabilitation that is required before he makes his way back to Germany. Let’s all together help him in his battle to be well again and go home to his family, as he recovers as best he can. He rode with pride in this event and extolled its virtues, and was well loved by his presence with us. Let’s help him recover, as anyone of us could easily have suffered the same fate. He was cautious and experienced that day, but alas a combination of factors made it impossible for him to escape such a terrible fate. Please no matter how small your contribution, help to do what we as the Cycle Oregon community can do together to truly make a difference to such a great rider.  And to one that believed so much in everything that was the community of Cycle Oregon.
