Christmas Miracle for Mr. P Facing Eviction

My name is Katie Marquez. I am a social worker and business owner in Dexter, MI. This Christmas, our business, Marquez Quality Cleaning, wants to bless Mr. P with a Christmas miracle! Mr. P is a local Dexterite who reached out for cleaning help. He let me know right away that he was on a fixed income and was facing many barriers. After meeting Mr. P, it was clear how dire his situation was. Mr. P is retired and is on a fixed income; he has multiple mental and physical health conditions, including being diabetic and oxygen-dependent.

Mr. P broke down and shared with me that he is facing eviction due to the current state of his home. Due to this, his Section 8 voucher was revoked, and the courts will begin the eviction process before Christmas.

Mr. P’s home is in desperate need of some TLC and would include trash and debris removal, sanitation, and disinfecting all surfaces and appliances. Marquez Quality Cleaning Services has decided to donate our cleaning services for an estimated 20-hour job. But that’s not all!

We hope to secure donations to spruce up Mr. P’s home with some new furnishings, linens, and housewares.

Currently, Mr. P is stuck in his home as he cannot locate his wallet and keys in all the debris in his home. Mr. P also does not cook and resorts to drinking Coke and eating frozen meals.

Our goal this Christmas is to make Mr. P smile and to provide him with a clean, safe, and healthy environment where he can thrive. Mr. P confided that after the loss of his brother and a dear friend, things are out of his control, and he has lost hope! We want to bring back a spark of hope for him this holiday season.

Mr. P has held many titles during his life, but he prides himself most on his janitorial and cleaning experience :)

When he reached out to us and we heard his story, we couldn’t help but offer to jump in and help. We told him his income wouldn’t be a barrier to him deserving a happy, healthy home.
