Christmas Miracle for Dory
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Dory. On October 2nd, I was hit by a car, breaking both my back legs. I was then brought to Fort Bend Animal Shelter where both my legs were splinted. Despite the efforts of Fort Bend Animal Shelter to bring attention to me, I waited two months for someone to see me and get me the surgery I need for my legs. One day a nice lady, Ariel, reached out to the shelter offering to help fundraise for my surgery! Unfortunately, the shelter had me tagged as a rescue only, so she had to find a rescue to take me in to get the surgery done.
My future foster mom reached out to sooooo many rescues in the area, but sadly because of how expensive my surgery is (estimates are $8,000-$10,000!), most rescues had to decline.
After two grueling months of waiting, just when I thought all hope was lost, the Homeless Pet Placement League (HPPL) decided to advocate for my Christmas Wish. They are committed to fostering me and helping me fundraise for my surgery.
My foster mom scooped me up on December 4th and whisked me away to the Texas A&M Veterinary ER! I met and kissed so many nurses and doctors. They said my broken legs will require surgery (and, no doubt, extensive therapy) but luckily, I am young and still a good candidate for surgery.
I currently hobble around for pat pats and cuddles, but eventually I tire out and pull myself around like a mermaid.
This year for Christmas, I am praying for surgery that will enable me to romp and play just like other dogs.
I am grateful for any amount you can contribute. Please share my cause, and pray for me.
