Hello. My name is Scott McGillivray. My wife, Melody, and I are travelling back to Uganda this December. A big part of our trip is to work with the many orphans living in the slums of the capital city, Kampala.

The largest slum there, known as Katanga, is one of Kampala's poorest neighborhoods. Home to over 50,000 people in a sprawling maze of tin roofs, dirt paths and sewage canals. The kids we are going to try and help there, are orphans. They either never knew their parents or their family was wiped out from disease or starvation or war.
As you may know, Melody and I have already been working with people there, trying to get them the little help we can provide. This group have seen mothers die of starvation. Kids mauled and killed by packs of dogs. Kids die from preventable disease. Very young girls brutally raped. It is all very difficult to talk about and near impossible for us in Canada to understand.

These kids literally have nothing. No homes. No free healthcare. No access to clean water or bathrooms. No free education. No government support. No food banks. Nothing.
Our hope with this trip is to spend time with a group of about 100 kids ranging in age from newborns to late teens. We want to get to know them and really see how they live and what they need. It’s one thing to see pictures and videos, but I am sure it will be very eye-opening to spend days and nights there.
As we will be spending Christmas there with them, we want to try and bless them with a gift. Depending on their age, we would like to get items like durable toys for the young kids, school supplies, New clothes and hygiene supplies, journals with pen set, and Bibles.
We really won’t know until we get out there and spend time with them.
What we are asking for is $50 for each child. That will allow us to purchase something that will really bless each one. We will be doing the shopping locally, as it will also help the local economy a bit and we will bring a few of the older kids with us to help and have a blast shopping!
Also, we plan to have a Christmas meal with them all.

We will record all of this so you can experience the joy the kids feel on that blessed day.
You will get a unique “thank-you” video from the very kids you help.
You will see exactly where your money went and the impact it had.
We will keep zero. No admin fees. Nothing for us. It all goes to the kids.
We are doing this to help the kids and be God’s hands and feet there.
We are not an official charity, we are just two people trying to serve to Lord, so we cannot provide a tax receipt.
I pray you will consider donating to help make their lives just a little brighter.
If you cannot help financially, then please at least forward this information on to others so they may feel moved to help.
And, of course, pray. Please pray that Melody and I keep safe and can be a blessing to those kids.
Thank you and God bless.
