Christmas donation for orphanage in Yaounde (Cameroon)

Hello everyone!

As many of you know, I am currently spending a year in Cameroon as a volunteer.

While I normally work in a school, I also started supporting an orphanage here in Yaounde by collecting donations and buying things like food and medication from it to help cover the basic needs of the around 200 children living there. Food is provided daily, it is just one meal per day, however. Since they only have limited space, there is basically no privacy for the children - neither in the bathrooms nor in the bedrooms.

Together with a mom from the school I work at, I currently organize an amusement day (as a belated Christmas present) with some bouncy castles etc. for the kids for this Saturday, as they never get to do those kind of activities.

We’ve already covered most of the cost, there is still a gap of about $100, however. Furthermore, all three buses they use to take the children to school recently broke, which is why they are in desperate need of repairing them. The cost for the repair is about $550 per vehicle, we’ve collected $350, but we’d still need $200 to cover the cost for at least one of the busses.

If anyone would be willing to give a little something to contribute to cost for the amusement day and/or the busses, I (and everyone at the orphanage) would be very grateful!
