X-mas at Radio Lollipop Melbourne

Want to join us in making a difference? The festive season is around the corner and we’re raising money to benefit Radio Lollipop (Melbourne) and any donation will help make an impact. The funds will go towards fun and exciting Christmas gifts for the children at Monash Children’s Hospital.

 

Who are we?

Radio Lollipop is a not-for-profit children's charity providing care, comfort, play and entertainment to children in hospital. We believe in the healing power of play; providing smiles and laughter to children at a time when they need it most. Though some patients are short stay, many have a recurring need for care and repeatedly return to the hospital, and some who are terminally ill, sadly, spend much of their short lives in hospital.

 

What do we offer to kids in hospital?

Our ward visiting volunteers and live radio shows provide children with a distraction from their situation and allow them to just ‘be kids’, without the worries of their current situation. We offer them a voice, and a choice, in a situation where that is largely unavailable to them. We offer community and interaction between kids in our studio play area and give parents a brief respite from (usually) being the primary source of entertainment and support for their child.

 

It can often be hard to put into words exactly what we do, because it’s more than just games and crafts; but the father of a young child we once saw summed it up well. He said, “The medical staff gave me back my daughter’s health, but Radio Lollipop gave me back my daughter and her personality.”

 

How can you support us?

Our goal before Christmas 2021, is to raise $10,000 that will go towards gifts for the children and to ensure we continue to provide the care that keeps them happy, entertained, and comforted while in hospital. We understand it has been a difficult year for everyone in many ways, but hopefully we can keep our spirits up by spreading a little Christmas cheer.
