Over the past several months, many of you have walked alongside me as my health has declined rapidly. My gastroparesis continues to cause major complications, and despite every effort, my body simply isn’t absorbing what it needs to survive. I’m now paying out of pocket for most of my nutrition supplies and supplements just to keep going. My ostomy supplies are only covered at 40% by insurance, leaving me with a significant bill every single month. On top of all of this, I’ve been fighting infection after infection, which has made an already difficult season even harder on my body.

On January 30th, I will undergo a major surgery to remove my colon and rectum. This is not a decision made lightly, but it is necessary. The hope is that this surgery will reduce a large portion of my daily pain and give me a chance at a better quality of life.

Because of the severity of my illness, I am unable to work. I must be out of work for a full calendar year before I can even qualify for disability. In the meantime, our savings have been completely depleted since I became sick in July. In 2025 alone, I spent nearly three months in the hospital between GI complications, kidney issues, and the ongoing infections that keep knocking me down.

This surgery will cost us $8,000 out of pocket, and we simply do not have it.

Josh will also need to take time off work to care for me after surgery. Since the procedure is in Cleveland, we will have additional expenses for hotel stays, food, and travel during my recovery.
