Christine's Journey: Battling Cancer and Loss

In November of 2020, in the midst of the pandemic, Christine was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML) while in Hawaii with her husband, Johnny. She was hospitalized and underwent intensive chemotherapy before she was able to return home shortly after Christmas. She was accepted on the bone marrow transplant list and completed her transplant at Stanford on April 1st, 2021. This was dubbed her “rebirth day.” She was monitored closely and placed on medications to ensure her body did not reject the transplant. She made a remarkable recovery with no indications of rejection or recurrence.

Many of you supported her through this journey and participated in our first fundraiser to alleviate some of the significant medical bills involved with her treatment.

Fast forward to February 11, 2025. Christine’s husband, Johnny, suffered a fatal stroke and passed away the following afternoon at the young age of 64. Upon returning home and planning Johnny’s celebration of life, Christine realized she was not only grieving the loss of the love of her life, but was not feeling well. She had bloodwork on March 31st, and the results revealed on April 1st that the AML had returned.

She completed her first round of chemo on April 12th, and she will again need a bone marrow transplant and is awaiting formal acceptance on the donor list. Christine and her children are facing a long road for treatment and mounting medical expenses, all while grieving the loss of her devoted husband of 40 years and their loving father.

These funds will allow Christine and her children to focus on her health and recovery rather than the financial burdens of her treatment and Johnny’s death. We are confident the good Lord and Christine’s medical team will provide the path for her recovery. Thank you for your prayers and support.
