Hey there!

My name is Christine. I'm 29 year's old and live in Portland, OR. My work and passions include writing, design, philanthropy, public health, animals, and music.

I have Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA) Type II, which affects the motor nerve cells in the spinal cord and causes my extreme muscle weakness. SMA affects approximately 1 in 10,000 individuals and it's the reason I've been using a wheelchair since I was 2.

Now an exciting and humbling opportunity presents itself...

I have been selected to participate in a clinical trial for a groundbreaking SMA treatment at Boston's Childrens Hospital.

This campaign is raising funds to cover my travel expenses, lodging, accommodations, and care support while traveling to and from Boston for 15 weeks.

To be honest, I never expected an opportunity like this nor did I think I wanted to be 'fixed' however this goes far beyond me. Sure, I'd give just about anything to lift my arms and hug my fiancée but this is also about saving and improving thousands of lives.
