Christine's Eff Breast Cancer Fund

On Dec 4, 2017, two days before my 45th birthday I was diagnosed with breast cancer in my left breast. It was also 18 months after I lost my sweet hubby to Leukemia.

During his 3 year battle we used up all our savings. I had not even began to recover financially when I was diagnosed. Since all of this happened at the end of the year (and I NEVER get sick), I ended up having to pay the deductible & max OOP for the last 2 months of the year.......maxing out my credit card because I had to pay everything up front. And then all over again at the beginning of the year.

I have Triple Negative breast cancer with is an aggressive breast cancer. At the time I found the lump, it was already 5.3cm. I had surgery to put a power port in for my chemo. 5 months of chemo but I only had a partial response & it shrunk to about 2 cm. I had a lumpectomy June 12, but the surgeon didn't get clear margins, so we decided to do a mastectomy. Luckily I didn't have any lymphnode involvement.

Now I'm going through more chemo... daily pills for about 6 months, then a month of radiation.

My first round of chemo, I managed to work 40+ hrs, had to be out of work for 2 months to recover from my surgeries...but I'm now back at work.  Which is very difficult because of the side effects of these new pills.
