Hi Fans, Family, Friends, and Good souls who have found my page:
My passion has always been creative endeavors. I started studying fine arts with a focus on painting at Arizona State University in 2001, but in the spring of 2002 I sustained a spinal cord injury which left me a quadriplegic. After spending three grueling years in physical therapy, I went back to school and received my undergraduate degree in Fashion Marketing and then my Master of Arts in Fashion Studies From Parsons The New School for Design in NYC. Throughout my graduate studies, I became increasingly interested in photography and visual culture, which led to a role as the production assistant on the fashion documentary Dior and I.
Over the past three years my work has been exhibited across the United States and internationally. Over the past year, my photography has appeared in Dodho Magazine, Artist Portfolio Magazine, F-STOP and Photographer’s Forum Best of Photography 2017. These successes have encouraged me creatively, however photography is not a cash flow heavy business – which is why I am starting this GoFundMe.
As a street photographer I explore candid moments and unfiltered interactions illuminating the most interesting aspects of everyday life in New York City. Visually providing stories that are un-choreographed or digitally manipulated. For the past three years I’ve been hitting the streets of New York City capturing these fleeting moments and I now feel the creative need and challenge to grow as a photographer and immerse myself not only into different communities around the country, but to also visit different countries and cultures to explore and preserve a different way of life. With Cuba increasingly opening up politically and economically, now is the time.
What I am asking you to help me fund is a trip to Cuba for a supported shooting session in Havana, Vinales and Trinidad, followed by three pop-up gallery shows in NYC to showcase and promote my resulting work
Will you do two things for me:
1) Support me with a donation of any size. Really—any size. While covering my budget is the goal, knowing that I have the support of a broad community will buoy my spirits.
