Dear Family and Friends,
We would like to ask you to donate to this GoFundMe for Christine McMahon. We are raising money for a last-call medical treatment for her exacerbating chronic diseases. We are also coveting your prayers, as she is facing this life-threatening diagnosis.
Many of you are already aware of Christine’s serious health conditions. To recap, she has systemic sarcoidosis on many organs: heart, lymph nodes, lymphatic system, skin, lungs, brain, eyes (100 + lesions), liver, thyroid, and spleen. This disease goes into remission for 90% of people, but it has not gone into remission for Christine. She also has progressive multiple sclerosis (MS) and last week she was diagnosed with stage 4 acute renal failure. These diseases are severely debilitating. She is in intense chronic pain throughout her body. She has had 17 mini-strokes from neurosarcoidosis, has cataracts in both eyes due to the steroids, and she is in the beginning stages of glaucoma. She has received over a year of brain therapy due to cognitive decline as well as ongoing physical therapy for her MS. She requires a walker or wheelchair much of the time and she is also only at 65% lung capacity.
For a better understanding of what Christine's life is like, you may want to watch Selma Blair’s new documentary, “Introducing Selma Blair”. She describes her MS disease and the symptoms very well, many of which are the same as Christine’s. You can find it on Netflix or you may Click Here to Watch The Trailer. You may also Click Here to watch a YouTube video about stem cell treatment for multiple sclerosis.
Christine’s neurologist prescribed 3 different immunosuppressive drugs, multiple steroids, and harsh chemo treatment, all of which made Christine very sick. Although these treatments were meant to help her, the negative side effects permanently damaged her heart and affected her lungs tremendously. Currently, her two neurologists, retina specialist, pulmonologist, and both cardiologists have requested that she immediately start a chemo treatment that is less harsh. Christine is resistant to this idea, as the last chemo treatment she received grossly suppressed her immune system, causing her to be hospitalized multiple times within the 1.5 year period. Christine does not think chemo is a good option but based on her doctor’s statements, she does not believe that she has long to live.
Stem cell therapy is something that Christine has been researching and it has given her new hope of extending her life. Her medical insurance will only pay for stem cell therapy for leukemia and parkinson’s disease patients at this time. The US is behind on its stem cell allotment and she will need a much greater number of stem cells to impact her current illnesses. The US stem cell pioneers have chosen to go to other countries to open their treatment centers. Christine has researched the GioStar Stem Cell Therapy Clinic in Mexico, founded by Dr. Anand Srivastavaa and she would like to receive her treatment there. Dr. Srivastavaa started his stem cell research at UC Irvine and the University of San Diego. The stem cells Christine will receive are called Mesenchymal and are donated from umbilical cords. They will clean 160 million stem cells for Christine which will be injected into her spine and blood over the course of one week.
GioStar has quoted Christine $15,000 for her treatment. She and her husband Andrew have already saved $10,000, so they need an additional $5000 for the treatment. They will also need money to cover their travel, car rental, lodging, food and to keep up with their monthly bills as she will not be able to work during this time. Our goal is to raise $10, 000 for Christine. Can you help? Please donate and help her extend her life! Every dollar makes a difference! Your prayers are very important too. She needs to be lifted up to God daily for healing, strength, comfort and wisdom.
We have both known Christine for many years and she has shown us time and time again what kindness, compassion, and love for others look like. We know if we were ever in need, she would be there for us and give us her all. We want to be there for her now and you can help. Please make a donation, big or small, and know that you have made a difference.
Christine would love to hear from you! The power of an encouraging word is incredible, so please leave a note for her here on this site.
Thank you and God bless you,
Tammy Gueck and Christy Jemail
