Donate to Help Christine & Her Sons Get Out of Homelessness
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Gloria Surber, and I’m creating this GoFundMe on behalf of Christine, a friend of my sister’s, and her two sons, Ryan (19) and Jacob (21), who are currently living out of their car in Meriden, CT, and urgently need short-term assistance.
Christine has been reaching out daily to 211 and other local services, doing everything she can to secure shelter. Unfortunately, all shelters are full, and long-term options like Section 8 are closed to new applicants. Many other programs have long waitlists, but she hasn’t stopped trying.
She is also dealing with serious health issues, including cervical dystonia, a benign tumor in her lower back, nerve damage, and heart complications that recently led to hospitalization. Despite all this, Christine is doing her best to care for her two adult sons—one who has autism, and one who was recently hospitalized, and is now actively seeking work.
While the family receives some public assistance, it’s not enough to meet their basic needs—especially without stable housing or reliable transportation. This fundraiser is intended to provide temporary, bridge support while Christine continues working with public programs to find long-term solutions.
Donations will help with:
• Securing a low-cost efficiency unit to get them into safe shelter
• Covering basic necessities and urgent medical needs
• Connecting with someone willing to donate a reliable vehicle or help repair their current one, which needs significant work
Even if you can’t donate, sharing this campaign can make a meaningful difference.
Thank you so much for your kindness and support.
