Friday May 26th at approximately 6:30pm Chris suffered a stroke while at her happy place and home away from home, Holiday Camplands in Andover, Ohio. She was able to text her sister just the word “help” and she was there within a minute. Holiday has its own EMT and fire department who responded and were there in less than 5 minutes. Chris was transported to Ashtabula hospital about 40 minutes away for treatment. She was administered the clot busting stroke medication within the allotted time frame but to date has not seen any positive reversal of her symptoms. Currently she has what is termed as right-side deficit. No movement of her arm or leg on her right side, which unfortunately is her dominant side. She can speak but is labored in doing so, she does have the ability to hear and understand everything that is happening. In addition, and perhaps most devastating, is that she has also lost her swallow reflex. This means she has not been able to eat or drink anything since Friday evening. She has opted for a feeding tube to be surgically implanted so that she can receive the vital nutrition that her body needs to help heal from the massive trauma. She has undergone some limited therapy in the hospital but is preparing to move to an acute rehab facility closer to her home in Cleveland. There she will undergo intensive therapy, 6+ hours a day to begin her long and arduous journey to try and regain the mobility that she has lost. There are unfortunately no guarantees. It will take all her family and friends to gather the strength needed to overcome this and reach her ultimate goal of being able to go home. She is eternally grateful to everyone who has reached out with love and support, that encouragement is what she so desperately needs right now. Chris has been with Tremco/WTI for 22 years as GS Project Administrator, she has been a dedicated and hard-working asset to our team. If you're able to, please donate and help Chris and her family on this difficult journey.
