Christine Bouffard (Del Medico)

So, I got a call the other day. One that I did not want to receive. One that tears your heart apart and you sit there and wonder why ? You’re in complete disbelief. Why her? Why now? Why ever? My dear friend Christine (DelMedico) Bouffard  has been diagnosed with Stage 3 Breast Cancer. Christine is in the process of genetic testing for the BRCA gene as her Mom  too had the BRCA gene, so the odds are very high. She has been told that this is going to be a long road. She will be sick and fighting this demon for 8-12 months - if not longer. 


Christine will be receiving chemotherapy and possibly radiation. We will know more in the next week or so. She has been told by her medical team that if she tests positive for the BRCA gene that she will lose both breasts and her ovaries. We have decided to start this GOFUNDME based on being out of work for 8-12 months, as well medication that she will require that is not covered by EI. During this difficult time, Christine should not have to worry about how her rent will be paid, if her hydro is cut off, or where her next meal will come from. She is already experiencing high anxiety over her financials and we want to provide her with a little cushion. While off work, she will be losing approximately $2000 per month. 


Christine (Affectionately known as DelMed to me), Chrissy to others or just plain Chris - has been my childhood friend since age 11, I’m now 50. Anybody who knows Christine knows that she is always ready to jump in and help those in need. I know this firsthand as I have been the one she has helped on many occasions. I’m sure many of you reading this can also tell a story about when Chris helped you. She does it with a smile on her face, encouragement and never waits for anything in return.


We are requesting $25, 000 for loss of wages, prescriptions costs not covered , rent, bills, groceries as well as for her piece of mind.  In less than 10 years Christine has lost her Mom (2012), Dad (2015) and most recently her Mother-in-law (2020) so she cannot get immediate family support and during a time in our world, many people are out of work like her husband. Christine has 4 wonderful children 2 girls and 2 boys who will be there to support her emotionally and physically when she has bad days but are not in any position to help her financially.


Please help my girl out, give her piece of mind, give her well wishes and as much support as you can, it will truly mean the world to her and me.
