Help Support Christina’s fight with Breast Cancer

In early May 2022, Christina discovered a lump in her breast after returning from a work trip. Because of my new employment, our health insurance hadn’t kicked in yet, but not wanting to take chances we immediately went to see the a doctor. Doctor’s initially thought it could be an infection since she is only 32 years old and breast cancer doesn’t run in Christina’s family. This along with our positive mindset caused us to believe the lump was benign and medical expenses would be manageable. Unfortunately, we got news that we never thought we would hear and we immediately began treatment on an out-of-pocket basis. We were shocked by Christina’s cancer diagnosis; Stage 3 Invasive Ductal Carcinoma & DCIS Breast Cancer. It seemed as if time stopped and I knew we would have a very long road ahead.

Since that day, medical expenses have continued to grow. Since beginning treatment, our healthcare has kicked in; however, we have still have ever-growing medical bills which include: ultra-sounds, biopsies, chemotherapy sessions, surgeries, radiation treatments, prescription and non-prescription medications, therapy aids such as cold-caps and dry ice expenses.

I have taken it upon myself to handle all of the bills, insurance and hardships that have come with my wife’s cancer diagnosis. Christina has enough on her plate with this terrible disease and needs to focus on the healing and recovery, not the bills. It has been a long, tiring, stressful and scary six months and we have done everything we can to keep our heads above water. Now that chemo is over, Christina has a double mastectomy surgery scheduled to remove the tumors in her breasts and lymph nodes; followed by 30 to 40 rounds of radiation therapy. Our family and friends have been amazing during this hard time and we couldn’t do it without their help. Thank you so much for all who have supported us and continue to be there.
