In about 6 weeks, my niece Christina will be heading into the biggest surgery of her life – and that is saying a lot. This spinal surgery carries high risk and is the most difficult surgery which can be done, according to her surgeons – Neurosurgeon & Orthopedic surgeon.
If you have the means, would you please consider helping Christina and her family once again? This would help so much with quality of life and encouragement. Here are the goals:
· Make their house more accessible to Christina. It is so frustrating to be in a wheelchair and unable to get where you want to go, reach things and just do the things you want to do …
· We also would love to fulfill a wish of Christina’s – to give her something to look forward to and brighten her days during the grueling recovery she will have. If any of you know Christina, she is all about building communities and bringing a little touch of magic and lots of joy to others and to herself. She has been dreaming about having a little “Free Library Box” on her front lawn. It’s a perfect location because their street is part of a loop and there is a constant stream of families walking by with strollers & kids’ bicycles, dog walkers, etc. One of Christina’s passions has always been reading and she lost that ability for a couple of years because of one of her conditions, Intracranial Hypertension. Thanks to her recent, successful VP shunt surgery, Christina is able to read again and she is embracing it fully, as is her way! She wants to share her books and love of reading with our friends and neighbors. She would be over the moon if we could have two library boxes – one for adults and one filled with books and surprises for the kids.
With heartfelt thanks for all of your care and support these many years,
Love from the Dohertys and Feins
