Our friend Christie needs a little help and she is not one to ask for it. So thanks for clicking the link and taking a moment to read on…..

Christie (Whitney as she is known by her nursing colleagues) was recently diagnosed with bowel cancer. On 15th May she had surgery to have the cancer removed from her sigmoid colon. This is the last part of the large colon before it reaches the rectum. Thankfully the surgery went well but has left her with a temporary stoma bag for up to 6 months.

There is a period of 6 weeks before Christie can return to work now and there may be some physical restrictions due to the fast pace of nursing in general.

When it comes time for the stoma reversal this will require a further 6 weeks of recovery and inability to work.

My aim is to raise $5000 to cover Christie’s rent ($400/wk) for approx 3 months. This target will also support bills and any additional expenses that may arise for Coen in this time, like school excursions & basketball.

The good news is the cancer has been found early and unlikely to require chemotherapy. The aim now is to avoid stress wherever possible and hopefully return back to “normal” in 2025.
