So far, she has endured two surgeries to stabilize her C5 and C6, and a third surgery to align and connect the fractures on her C1. One of the three fractures could not be connected, but our hope is that it will fuse through scar tissue. She is now able to breathe on her own, and we witness small miracles every day. We are heartbroken that this active, social, fun-loving beacon of joy is lying in a bed unable to do anything for herself. She strives to maintain positive attitude and does all she can to improve herself by embracing therapy and straining to do her part. Yet, it will require a lot of support from everyone, including financial, physical, and emotional.
Thank you for your thoughts and prayers, and please keep them coming. We know it's a long road ahead and need your help. Christie will need to go to a rehab facility which is costly, but she wants to have the best chance to live a fulfilling life. Our parents will take turns assisting at the rehab facility in Denver, (living nearby as recommended), seek to find an adaptive home and vehicle to accommodate her disabilities, and pursue other surgeries/procedures/therapy that may help her recovery.
Please help to make a difference in this beautiful young woman's life, either by donation, prayer, or sharing this post to spread the word. This stabs at the heart and soul so anything you can do to help during this time of sorrow (and hope!) is greatly appreciated. Thank you so much.
*Please note: updates will be posted, so we encourage you to follow her progress.
