Hello everyone. For those of you who know the Malmgren family personally, or have heard of the slogan #ChristianMStrong, you know the story of the incredible young man behind the hashtag. For those of you who haven’t, meet my badass warrior cousin Christian. Christian was diagnosed with Ewing’s Sarcoma at the young age of 11 and has been battling ever since. He’s been in and out of remission, and was diagnosed with another invasive cancer a few years ago- AML Leukemia. For the majority of his teen years, hospital visits, chemo and radiation treatments, and dreaded scans have been an everyday occurrence. His army of family and friends have been fighting the good fight alongside him, and served as a source of light, love, encouragement, and hope every step of the way.

A few days ago Christian went in for his routine scans, and the results were not what anyone was expecting. The tumors continue to grow and are now in the lining surrounding his left lung almost entirely. The current medication is not working, radiation and surgery are not feasible, and further treatment options are minimal. Doctors were honest and said whatever they do won't change the outcome, and that his time left here with us is unknown. While our family is overwhelmed and saddened by this recent news, we remain faithful and focus our energy on spending quality time with each other and encourage him to spend time doing what he loves. Being the adventurous soul he is, Christian has decided to focus his energy on traveling and marking items off his bucket list. He’s only been to California once (a couple of years ago) and already had plans to move out here with my family for college. For that reason, we want to give him the California trip of his dreams. This is where your help and support comes in! If you are willing and able to make a donation (no matter how big or small.. every bit helps!) the money will go towards helping him see what the golden coast has to offer. Some items that he already has on the list: Six Flags Magic Mountain, snorkeling at Catalina Island, searching for Sea Caves in San Diego, boating in Big Bear, and maybe even skydiving (his mom isn’t too keen on this one )!!

If you know Christian personally, consider yourself one of the lucky ones. You know from first hand that he is the most spirited, charismatic, and goofy guy around. You know from being in his presence that he lights up every room he walks into. And you know from talking with him that he is the epitome of Godlike grace and love. His love for life is infectious and I think we could all learn that lesson from him- that every moment is precious and living in the present is the only way to do it! So let’s give our angel on earth the time of his life in California (the bucket list trip begins on June 11th when they fly out).
