We are reaching out to ask for your support for 2 year old Christian Pinto and his incredible parents, Sara and Ross.

In July, Christian was diagnosed with Ewing sarcoma, a very aggressive cancer. What started as a small bump on his leg turned out to be a tumor that spread to his lungs.

The past eight months have been an unimaginable journey filled with chemotherapy, hospital stays, and terrifying complications—including both lungs collapsing, anaphylactic shock, and countless ER visits.

Christian has finally completed chemotherapy and is beating this thing!!! — BUT the battle is far from over. His next step is critical: final scans to determine if he needs limb salvage surgery in his leg. If required, this surgery will involve removing and replacing the affected bone (the original tumor site), followed by an intense recovery process lasting months.

Ross and Sara plan to travel to Cleveland, Ohio for scans in just a couple of weeks and are not sure how they are going to pay for the trip, along with their mortgage and bills.

Even if surgery isn’t needed, Christian’s journey continues. He will require regular scans every few months to monitor for recurrence, as well as costly medications and follow-up care to ensure his body continues healing. The emotional and financial toll on his family remains immense.

Sara and Ross have four children, and Ross, a Kill Devil Hills firefighter, has been on unpaid leave to care for their family. With every fever sending Christian to the ER and uncertain travel, returning to work hasn’t been an option. The financial strain is overwhelming, and now, on top of their mounting medical debt, they must prepare for the cost of ongoing treatments, medications, and frequent travel from their home in Outer Banks to Norfolk CHKD.
