My name is Christianna. I have been living in New Mexico on and off for about 19 years. I started to teach myself how to make chocolate beginning at the age of 12. My mom raised me with organic whole foods, superfoods like spirulina and living off gardens and close to nature. I used to sneak and eat Reese's peanut butter cups when I was at my friends houses growing up because my mom wouldn't let me eat processed sugar. After a while of doing that I finally thought it was kind of silly and I could just experiment and make healthy versions of peanut butter cups, snickers bars and all kinds of things. What started out as "freezer chocolate" consisting of melted chocolate chips with nuts, turned into all kinds of creations. I also really got into health and fitness at that time and ended up getting into raw food and raw chocolate, then truffles and learning how to temper chocolate. Then bars and all sorts of creations. I let everyone I knew try my chocolate creations and people ended up requesting to buy them from me. The name "Tia Coco" came about because my nieces and nephew don't even call me by my name "Christianna". They call me "Auntie Coco". So that was the name I went with. "Tia" in Spanish means Aunt. I've made chocolate on and off for Cafe's in New Mexico over the years including Caveman Coffee and Body Cafe. At one point I was selling to 40+ stores between Santa Fe and Albuquerque and doing weekly events and farmers markets. I let my ex fiance Will on board and we ran the business together for a while. But after Will and I decided to go our separate ways I downsized the whole business and almost gave up making chocolate. I was pretty burnt out by that point. I tried to sell everything (all the equipment, etc.), but it just wouldn't move, it wouldn't sell. I was stumped and confused. So I just held onto it locked away in a storage unit. Internally I basically gave up...wondering what I'm going to do with my life now. I searched many different career options but chocolate and fitness always come back to a close place in my heart. Mainly because when people eat good chocolate that is made with passion from your heart, you can see it written all over their faces...its like a pure joy moment. When I work with people in fitness, I see improvement in their lives. My passion is helping people and bringing more joy to their lives. So here I am again. Going for it. I've never had an investor or any money backing aside from some help from my dad and the community. Just hard work and faith trusting that if this my calling, it's gotta work out somehow and if I truly believe in myself I know it will work out. I am now going back to step one. Finding a better kitchen, reworking packaging, sourcing better ingredients, and figuring out how to step forward into healthy desserts and chocolate again. Any donations will go to supporting Tia Coco getting back out there and into business again.
Thank you for taking the time to read this and thank you for any and all support!
