Christian Richmond

On behalf of the Young-Richmond family, we are asking for your support, both spiritually and financially, as the family prepares to say goodbye to Christian. The funds raised will be used to cover final expenses for Christian, as he was placed in comfort care(hospice) this week.
Christian, 15, has battled a number of health challenges for most of his life including autism, epilepsy and strokes, along with other challenges. Most recently Christian was hospitalized on Christmas day following a grand mal seizure and subsequent seizures, which required him to be placed in the ICU in a medically induced coma. He has remained hospitalized in a coma since and in spite of efforts from his medical team, the seizures continued. There have been glimmers of hope along the way only for setbacks to continue. This battle has been up and down ever since Christmas however the family was notified this week that the seizures have caused too much brain damage for him to survive. The medical team advised placing him in comfort care(hospice), which began Monday evening. Because of his extensive health history, and in spite of his family’s effort, Christian was not approved for life insurance. The family needs financial assistance to cover his final arrangements through a shades of blue themed celebration of his life.
In spite of the health challenges he faced through the years, he still tried to make the most of life and cherished the time he was able to spend with his parents, Wanda and Nakia, his siblings, Saphira, James, Ashley and Nicholas, and his nieces and nephew. Throughout his life he enjoyed dancing to music, especially New Edition and Michael Jackson and just being a kid. He enjoys sports, especially basketball, and is a fan of Steph Curry. He has a heart of gold, curious spirit and intelligence that could intrigue any adult.
When his brother and sister were expecting children at the same time, he determined that he would be responsible for his niece Harmony and look out for her while Nicholas would be in charge of Amirah. He took this role very seriously over the last four years, even after his strokes made it difficult for him to verbally communicate and limited his physical interactions with her and the family. They truly have a special bond.
One thing that was always special to him were his trips to Florida to visit family. He loved the water and the family’s annual trips to Florida allowed him to be close to the water. He always looked forward to the time spent there. Sometimes the Florida trips included traveling on family cruises, which he also enjoyed.
Losing a child has been said to be the most difficult thing a person has to do. Saying goodbye to Christian is not something his parents and family ever imagined doing nor doing at his tender age of 15. Everyone is devastated by his pending passing. Any donation that you can provide to help relieve the financial burden of this difficult time is greatly appreciated. If you know the family personally, please have patience as they work through this difficult time. And to everyone, please say a prayer for everyone who loves Christian. It is never easy saying goodbye and it is more challenging when that person so young.
Thank you in advance for your support and please share this GoFundMe on your pages and networks.
