I recently sent in an audition video and found out I was 1 of 8 internationally accepted into the Christian Lindberg Masterclass in Lübeck, Germany which is August 1-August 5.
He did a similar masterclass back in 2015 but prior to that hasn't done one like this in over 19 years. According to Lindberg he doesn't know if he will ever do one again after this year.
This is a special event for me as Christian Lindberg is the very first trombone player I really got to listen to in high school. Ever since I saw a video of him playing Czardas on YouTube, I knew deep down that music was something that I would want to do for the rest of my life, and I remember spending hours upon hours listening to his albums, and being so motivated to practice based off his music recordings alone. It has always been a dream of mine to get a lesson or at least hear my trombone idol play in person, and to be able to get a chance like this is something of a high school dream come true.
This masterclass is extremely competitive to get in and last time it happened only a few Americans got in, one of them also being a good friend and UTA Alumni, Adam Hanna, so of course I am super excited and honored to have been chosen.
Of course planning a trip out to Germany isn't the cheapest thing, the average ticket cost is somewhere around 1800$ for round trip, plus the 450$ application fee, plus housing and food, I don't exactly have that kind of money laying around and with less than 2 months before the masterclass I wouldn't be able to get that amount and afford rent and other bills from my day job. I would really appreciate all the help I can get as I believe this would inspire and further my professional pursuit of music making to greater heights.
