Christian Legal Clinic - Brigit Ferry Appeal

Tax deductible

JANUARY / FEBRUARY 2020 UPDATE:

Hello everyone,  it has been over a year since I started this charity and we are now up to almost $15,000 raised (from GoFundMe and direct donations).   This past year and a half has been a wonderful experience for me.

As many of you know,  one of my goals was to raise money in support of hiring  CLCP's first full time, paid attorney.  I am pleased to announce that in 2019,  CLCP hired Nadège Tandoh Esq. Nadege is an experienced family law attorney and will focus on CLCP's most difficult cases.

On October 22, 2019, I was awarded a House of Representatives Citation from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.  I attended the open session of the House of Representatives.  It was an exciting day for me and The Christian Legal Clinics of Philadelphia.  My name was read into the record recognizing my campaign, volunteer work and CLCP's impact on the Community.  Pictured at the top of this page is The Speaker of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives, Michael Turzai (left) and Pennsylvania Representative Benjamin V. Sanchez, 153rd Legislative District (right) awarding me the citation.  I was invited back to the Speaker's Chambers after the House session.  Speaker Turzai gave me a tour and I was able to explain to him CLCP, its mission and the need for more legal aid funding for low-income individuals.  It was a fantastic day!

This summer I spent 5 weeks at Georgetown University taking college courses.  I called a local Legal aid clinic and asked if I could volunteer.  They were thrilled!  My classmate Maggie and I  (see picture above) volunteered at a christian legal clinic in Washington D.C.   The clinic is a wonderful organization that operates and believes in the same mission as CLCP!   Thank you to Deborah Smith for letting Maggie and I come for the day to help out.

Because of donations from all of you I have raised almost $15,000 (via go fund me and direct donations) since launching my campaign over a year ago. I still have a bit more to go on my pledge of $25,000 - so please consider donating to this very worthy cause.   Please look to this website for updates.

Under the video section of this site, you will find a speech from one of my recent parish visits.  Please take a look

Christian Legal Clinics of Philadelphia (CLCP) - Brigit Ferry Fund Raising Campaign

My name is Brigit Ferry, I live in Jenkintown, PA , and I attend Mount Saint Joseph Academy. I am asking you to donate to the Christian Legal Clinics of Philadelphia, a 501(c)(3), non-for-profit charity located in Philadelphia, PA. CLCP is a free legal clinic that provides legal services to all faiths in at-risk, inner city locations. Because CLCP is a faith-based charity, it receives no Federal or State funding and therefore is fully supported by donors like you. Please watch the short video above.

My Campaign - Support CLCP's First Full-Time Lawyer

My campaign is to raise $25,000 to support the hiring of CLCP’s first full-time, salaried family law attorney. I have attended multiple clinics over the last two years and have witnessed the positive impact that CLCP's volunteer lawyers have had on those in need.  A full-time attorney will be a game changer for CLCP and the communities they serve. Up until this new hire,  all legal services are performed by our volunteer attorneys. More times than not, visitors to the clinics require legal attention that is more complicated and may require a court appearance or legal support over a longer period of time. With this new full-time attorney, it will be easier for clients to get the extended help they need.

Please donate to my campaign so CLCP can provide the long term care that these families desire. Please link my campaign to your social media platforms (i.e.: Facebook, Twitter,  LinkedIn,  etc.), the more exposure to my campaign the better!

This coming spring and summer,  I will be visiting over a dozen parishes in the Philadelphia-area. Please stop back to this site for updates on my progress, info on special events, and my parish visit schedule.

Thank you for your support!

More About CLCP

CLCP addresses the justice gap;  the difference between the legal needs of low-income Americans and the legal resources available to meet those needs.   Philadelphia is one of the poorest cities in America, with approximately 28% of its citizens living below the poverty level. In 2018, 71% of low income families experience at least one legal problem per year. The rate is even higher for households with survivors of domestic abuse or families with children under 18 years old. CLCP invites those in need to come to places of safety, often at their church, in their own neighborhood for free legal advice. Participants are given counsel in all legal matters such as landlord disputes, criminal expungements, domestic abuse, immigration, will/estate matters and other legal issues. CLCP also offers spiritual care during or after the clinic to those who are interested.
