Christian Elliott legacy project - ME fundraising
Donation protected
Hello, my name is Robin Green. I am fundraising for the Christian Elliott legacy.
In April 2025, the cellist, composer and arranger Christian Elliott tragically died after a short, intense illness with ME/CFS. Christian was a master musician—performing, arranging, leading, and composing with extraordinary sincerity and brilliance across every style and genre that came his way.
His performances continue to awe and inspire, with countless videos on YouTube that showcase his artistry. A few that particularly stand out include:
Bach: Goldberg Variations
Piazzolla: Camorra 3
E.T. Theme
Christian inspired so many with his creative imagination, prodigious intellect, generous spirit, and his rare ability to bring out the very best in those around him. His loss has devastated a wide community of family, friends, and fellow musicians who can’t imagine a world without him.
Knowing Christian, he would want something creative and meaningful to come from his death. Together with his wonderful parents, Denyse and Garry, we felt that a legacy project was the most fitting way to honour and commemorate him.
We are proud to introduce:
The Christian Elliott Legacy – a project to posthumously record and release a collection of Christian’s original compositions and arrangements.
The recording is scheduled for summer 2026, with the album release planned for 2027.
Christian left behind a vast and extraordinary body of work. This project will focus on his chamber music. Highlights include:
Amulet for string sextet – commissioned by IMS Prussia Cove
The Modern Prometheus for cello and piano
Celestial Ripples for string quartet
Fauré Nocturnes – arranged by Elliott for five cellists
The Beatles’ Let It Be – arranged by Elliott for clarinet and string quartet
We are honoured that many exceptional musicians have agreed to take part in this project, including Steven Isserlis, the Zehetmair Quartet, Katherine Hunka, Bartholomew LaFollette, and many others.
We are grateful to have received support from Orchid Classics, who have generously offset a significant portion of the production costs. The Irish Chamber Orchestra has also kindly offered studio space, and we are pursuing further grant support.
Money raised will cover all production costs. Once those costs have been met, donations will go towards a charity of Christian’s parents’ choice, dedicated to ME/CFS research.
Christian’s battle with ME/CFS was devastating and ultimately fatal. We hope that this campaign can also contribute to funding research into this cruel and misunderstood disease.
We would be deeply grateful for any support you can give to this project.
With many thanks
