Christian Copeman Memorial Scholarship

Christian Copeman was a resident of Fredon, NJ and he attended Kittatinny Regional High School from 2009 - 2014.  Christian was a student athlete and a tough competitor who played Football, Baseball and Basketball.  In March of 2012, during his sophomore year, Christian was diagnosed with stage-four Rhabdomyosarcoma, a rare cancer that attacks the soft tissue in the body.  Christian immediately began to fight back with his faith in Jesus and he also began treatment at a facility in New York City.

By his first checkup, five weeks later, only after a couple of rounds of chemotherapy, the doctors shared that the cancer was retreating and most of it was already gone.  From that point on the cancer went into full remission.  Christian stopped the medical treatment in April of 2013.  All was great!

Unfortunately the cancer came back in September of 2013.  Christian continued to fight back with prayer and faith and he began treatment again, but by February of 2014, Christian said that he was ready to go be with the Lord.  Three days later, Christian took his last breath with his family by his side and he went home to be with Jesus.

A scholarship was built in memory of Christian Copeman, to be awarded to graduating seniors from Kittatinny High School that intend on progressing to college or a trade school.  Since 2014, $32,600 has been awarded in scholarships, to 30 different seniors.  Seniors apply via an application (including an essay) and award winners are selected by a six-person Board.

In light of the pandemic this past year, we were unable to raise funds via the golf event and basketball tournament.  So we're creating this fundraiser to raise funds to award more scholarships this year.  We do intend on holding the golf event and basketball event this fall and winter, but are in need of funding for this school years' applicants.

Christian was a resilient young man who battled hard through treatment, who kept his strong faith in Jesus, who never complained about his illness and who touched the lives of those around him.  That is the spirt in which this memorial scholarship was created.  We hope you'll help us in the continuation of granting scholarships to very deserving graduates, in his memory.

All fundraising will be directly deposited into the Christian Copeman Memorial Scholarship Fund and we plan on awarding the scholarships on June 7th.
