Hi, I'm Alison and last week, 8/10/25 at approx 1:30am, my mum passed away after a short battle with liver cancer. I'm not entirely sure what I should be putting here really but after being asked by some friends and family to make a donations page I thought it could be worth a try.

Throughout her life my mum always gave, I can't speak of her charitable work before I was born but I remember her doing so much through my own lifetime.

From volunteering and working at my primary school (ptfa, governors, dinner lady and lollypop lady), helping at our local church, to working many many years as a carer and nursing assistant in various settings.

Her entire life revolved around serving and caring for others. Many people around Blackpool would probably remember her days as a guesthouse landlady and the proprietor of the award winning Haig road chippy in South shore. She always had time to help others.

She faced three chemotherapy t.a.c.e procedures in her battle with inoperable liver cancer and the third caused abscesses on her liver that were sadly untreatable.

Unfortunately despite all her treatments and other health problems, mum was pretty much in denial until the end, determined that she had much longer left with her grandchildren and as such she hadn't really prepared for this moment. Fortunately she did have a life insurance policy but it won't cover all of the expenses for her funeral, memorial gathering or finalizing her affairs and tying up loose ends. Which at 6 months pregnant isn't the most ideal situation for my family to have found ourselves in.

In the spirit of transparency, the funds we need to find are to add to the insurance to cover the basic funeral costs, flowers, a small memorial gathering afterwards, home clearance, covering any last bills and for having my mum interred to her parents grave along with her addition to their gravestone. As we have no finalized details or invoices yet I have estimated the costs on top of the insurance and will update with further details as we receive them.

Anything left after paying for everything will be split between all of my mother's grandchildren to help them all cope with their first Christmas without her.

I will also update with the funeral dates and locations as soon as I have them.
