Christa Sonnier's Healing from Ovarian Cancer
Breathe Yoga and Wellness Center’s co-owner Christa Sonnier is settling in for a period of rest and rejuvenation in the coming months. On Friday, April 16th, 2021, Christa had sudden, unexpected surgery to remove a large tumor from her abdomen. Christa's doula support team stayed with her around the clock for 5 days and nights, and she was discharged from the hospital on Tuesday, April 20th, 2021 into the care of a dear friend where she recovered for several more days until finally arriving home 10 days post-surgery.
Last week we received the news that the tumor was confined to her ovaries and she was diagnosed with stage 1 ovarian cancer. Her prognosis after surgery is excellent, and her healing protocol involves chemotherapy and requires Christa to take a temporary leave of absence from her regular classes and workshop offerings at Breathe. We are so grateful that Christa has an amazing team of doctors guiding her treatment plan.
Christa is creating space for her healing, and this circumstance arrived quite unexpectedly without preparation of a temporary hiatus. As a single mother, entrepreneur, and business owner, Christa is self-reliant, self-motivated and dependent on her monthly offerings as a yoga teacher, mentor, astrologer, doula, and ceremonialist. Christa is planning to serve our community in a myriad of ways to generate income online while she is tending to her health at home.
Christa is always the first to offer her love, support, generosity, and kindness to everyone in our community. Many of us have a story of Christa coming to us any time of day or night to assist with a birth, a healing crisis, or the loss of a loved one. We are blessed to have her light in this world and we humbly request the assistance of our community to shower her with abundance, prayers, and healing energy.
We appreciate your prayers and well wishes.
In Gratitude,
