Christ foundation for the Disabled is a charity organization instituted in 2007 and became formally registered on the 11th October, 2018. This organization was founded and registered as an NGO which provides a community based program for the physically challenged adults and children, who were neglected by the society due to their disabled state with the belief their condition is from ancestral punishment or demonic spirit.
Christ Foundation for the Disabled's intervention is usually for clients who are suffering from poliomyelitis and other forms of physical disabilities with the aim to provide them with rehabilitation. This project which started 14years ago has been operating under the support and charity works of the Project President (Nkiruka U. Okechukwu) and Project Director (Ijeoma V. Okechukwu) who together having witnessed the high level of poverty and disability within the community deemed it fit to start a program that will put smiles on the faces of the vulnerable ones with disabilities here in Anambra state, Nigeria.
The organization's activities spread across all regions within the state and its neighboring states. We also provide support to a leprosy settlement, school for the blind and camp for wounded soldiers located within the area.
Our community based Rehabilitation programs include:
1.) Client identification
2.) Client referrals
3.) client's needs assessment
3.) Provision of assistive devices for persons with disabilities, especially these periods of global change towards these pandemic the world is currently facing.
4.) Organize medical outreaches
5.) Primary education and training in vocational skills including soap making, basket making, shoe making and activities of daily living etc
In order to continue providing these programs and assistance to these amazing people, we are pleading for monetary donations, foods, clothes. We are also seeking sponsorships for individual organizational sponsorship for orthopaedic and eye surgeries for some of our clients. All donations will go a long way to giving better life and hope and proving that there is ability in disability.
