TRAGEDY HAS HIT OUR HOME TOWN. Our Beloved Nick Christ, 59, passed away on March 2, 2020, after a valiant fight of Multiple Myeloma, bone marrow cancer. 2019 was a horrendous year for the Christ family. Both Nick and his wife, Brenda, were diagnosed with cancer within months of each other. Brenda having a rare form of gallbladder cancer first, and then Nick contracting multiple myeloma. They underwent chemotherapy at the same time, Brenda finally having surgery and is in remission and doing well to this day. Nick, on the other hand, was doing well after receiving stem cell therapy, but unfortunately the myeloma came back with a vengeance and eventually ended his life.
For those who knew Nick, he was one of the most generous and compassionate people, especially with his time for others. Some may know him as Nick Shjandemaar from his past. The name of his step father. Later on he took his birth father’s name again, Cristadalopolis, shortened to Christ.
After working mostly in rehabilitation clinics, he eventually became an integral part of Main Street Martial Arts as the head Tae Kwon Do instructor. He had been a lifelong martial artist himself. He taught, mentored and was a second father and amazing role model to thousands of students in the 22 years with the studio. He has helped shape the future for so many with his compassion and zest for teaching not only martial arts, but life lessons in respect, discipline and love. The kids were his passion and those whose life he impacted will never forget his face or his booming voice.
This past year has brought not only health tragedy but financial strain. With mounting medical bills, their youngest son Tanner, a union construction operator, having to leave his employment to care for his parents, one can only imagine the bills coming in daily.
Nick is survived by his loving wife, Brenda, and his two sons, Niko and Tanner. They need our help. So, if your life has been touched by this incredible human being, in any way, and you can afford to help out his family, then any amount will help.
