Hello, my name is Diane Collard and I have set up this page to help out a very dear friend of mine. Her Name is Chrissy Koons, a 53 year old, hard working woman. She has spent her working life, 30 years, as a school bus driver. Ensuring the safe transportation of her students with professionalism, dedication and respect. Over the last few years Chrissy has had 2 major health issues. First she found out she had lung cancer, doctors removed part of one lung and she beat it. Then a few years later she had to have tripple bi-pass surgery and came through it like a champ. But now another shoe has dropped.
Within the last couple of months Chrissy had just not been feeling good, so she went to her Cardiologist and the news came back not good. Last week she went in the hospital and they implanted a combo Defibrillator/Pace Maker. Well thanks to our wonderful Federal Government Chrissy can no longer drive school bus because she has a Defib implanted.
Because of her age, 53, she is not eligible to start taking her state retirement (she is to young). And, she has to be out of work 90 days to get any long term disability. So in the mean time she is without a paycheck, still having to try and pay bills.
Yes, Chrissy is married to a wonderful man, who is taking care of her but Jim also has his own serious health issues. Jim is on SSD, but it just is not enough to cover their mortgage and car payments.
Once Chrissy is cleared by her doctors she will be able to come back to work as a bus attendant, but she will take a cut in pay, which she is willing to accept as long as she can work.
The mones raised will be used to pay the mortgage, car payments, and utilities. We don't have a lot of time, she will get her last paycheck this Friday, 8/12, and school does not start till September, that is if she will be back by then. Her time frame back to work will be determined by her doctors, so in the mean time they could use the help to ease the financial stress they are going.
I am doing this because Chrissy is my friend and this is the right thing to do. I understand that everyone goes through hard times, but when you have a friend in need you just need to jump in and help any way you can.
