On Tuesday, February 23, after many days of thinking she had the flu, Chrissy was admitted into Placentia Yorba emergency room with severe flu-like symptoms, along with a rapid heart rate. The doctors discovered that she had actually developed endocarditis, and the bacteria had gotten into her blood system and attacked her aortic valve. They explained that they would need to transfer her to Anaheim Regional Medical center the next day and told her and her family that surgery was needed immediately to replace the aortic valve.

This massive surgery took place on Thursday, the 25th in the afternoon. They broke into her chest to replace the aortic valve and mid surgery discovered that there was also an abscess that had developed so they were able to fix that as well. Chrissy came through surgery like a champ and was sedated over night. She spent the next few days resting and recovering (also like a champ!) and was able to have all of the tubes and wires out as well as start walking around the ICU in record time.

On Sunday the 28th, Chrissy was moved out of ICU to the 2nd floor to further recover. March 1, she was discharged. She was readmitted on March 6 for a fever, but it was discovered a few days later that her antibiotics were causing the symptoms she was having. She is currently at home and recovering. Still very tired and sore, but we are all so grateful that she is ok and on the mend.
