Hello friends, family, and community,
Sometimes life changes in ways you never expect.
After routine bloodwork showed an elevated PSA level, I began a series of tests to determine what was going on. My PSA initially measured 14.65, which is significantly higher than normal. Six weeks later, it increased again to 15.11, leading my doctors to recommend a biopsy.
On December 19th, that biopsy confirmed that I have prostate cancer.
The encouraging news is that doctors believe the cancer is currently localized to my prostate, which means treatment now offers an excellent chance of removing it completely.
I also underwent advanced PSMA PET imaging, one of the most sensitive scans available for detecting prostate cancer spread. Thankfully, the results suggest the cancer is confined to the prostate, allowing doctors to move forward with surgery.
My Treatment Plan
After consulting with specialists, the recommended treatment is a nerve-sparing robotic radical prostatectomy.
I will be traveling to the Cleveland Clinic in Weston, Florida, where an experienced surgical team will perform the procedure and evaluate nearby lymph nodes to ensure the cancer has not spread.
Because I live in northwest Minnesota, this means traveling across the country for treatment and staying in Florida for at least two weeks during surgery and recovery.
Why I’m Asking for Help
While I am incredibly grateful to have access to this level of care, the reality is that the travel, lodging, medical costs, and time away from work during recovery will create a significant financial burden.
At 58 years old, my focus is on treating this cancer now so I can move forward with many more healthy years ahead. More than anything, I want to continue being there for my wife, daughters, and my grandchildren, watching them grow and sharing life’s moments with them.
How Donations Will Help
· Medical expenses not fully covered by insurance
· Travel costs to and from Florida
· Lodging during treatment and recovery
· Lost income while I recover from surgery
My goal is to raise $30,000 so I can focus on healing instead of worrying about the financial strain during this time.
If you are able to help, any amount truly makes a difference. If donating isn’t possible, sharing this fundraiser or keeping me in your thoughts and prayers means just as much.
Thank you for your kindness, encouragement, and support.
With gratitude,
Chris
