Chris's Fight: From Surgery to Stability

Hi, my name is Chris. I am 57 years old and work for Carnival Cruise Line. I had a heart attack in February and spent 18 days in the hospital as I had to have open heart surgery. Additionally they discovered my spine was fractured in two places. My sick and PTO time are all used up. I did receive short term disability from work, but that ended on April 29th. I have applied for an extension, but this is under review. As such, I have no income pending review of that request. On top of this, my land lord sold the house I was living in and forced me from the property with two days notice. I am currently staying at an Extended Stay America until Saturday. All money will then be gone...homeless. I am hoping to get sufficient funds for at least another week at the hotel ($800) or enough for a deposit and first month's rent. Actual rent in Fort Lauderdale runs at least $1500 for a standard apartment.

Funds will be used to stay safely at the hotel just long enough to secure and pay a deposit on a new apartment and the first month's rent along with any movement of utilities.

I only plan/hope to remain on disability long enough to get through the rather extensive medical follow-up and cardiac rehab. I then hope to return to a normal work schedule.
