Medical Crisis, Dialysis & Amputation — Help Me Get Home and Rebuild
My name is Christopher “Chris” Acosta.
Until recently, my life looked very different. Over the years, I built businesses, traveled, and supported myself independently. But a severe medical crisis changed everything.
Over the past months, my health collapsed. I developed end-stage kidney failure, which now requires dialysis several times per week just to stay alive. During this crisis, I also suffered serious infections and complications that ultimately led to an amputation.
I am currently recovering in Medellín, Colombia, where I became seriously ill. While I am receiving dialysis and basic medical care, my situation here is extremely unstable.
Some people who know me from years past may remember a very different life — one that looked like success, travel, and luxury. And at times, I was fortunate enough to experience those things.
But the past couple of years have been an incredibly humbling and difficult period. My health declined, my resources were drained by medical costs and life changes, and I’ve been fighting an uphill battle just to stay alive and recover.
Right now, my reality looks like this:
• Dialysis multiple times per week
• Recovering from major surgery and an amputation
• Limited mobility and needing assistance just to move around
• Ongoing wound care and infection monitoring
• Unable to work or support myself normally
The medical bills, housing costs, caregivers, and daily living expenses have become overwhelming.

Why I Need Help
My biggest goal right now is to stabilize my health and relocate back to the United States, where I have family and a stronger long-term support system.
Being back in the U.S. would allow me to:
• Access consistent dialysis care
• Be closer to family support
• Work toward getting on the kidney transplant list
• Rebuild my life and regain independence
Right now I’m simply trying to survive, recover, and rebuild from the ground up.

What Donations Will Help Cover
Funds raised will go directly toward:
• Dialysis treatments and medical care
• Wound care and post-surgery recovery
• Caregiver and nursing support
• Basic living expenses and housing
• Medical supplies and mobility equipment
• Travel and relocation costs back to the United States
Even small donations help relieve some of the pressure while I focus on recovery.
⸻
A Personal Note
This has been one of the most humbling experiences of my life.
Asking for help is not something that comes naturally to me. But serious illness changes everything, and right now I truly need support.
If you can donate, share this campaign, or simply keep me in your thoughts, it would mean more than I can express.
Thank you for taking the time to read my story.
— Chris
