Chris's Fight Against Gioblastoma
Donation protected
Chris Anderson is a Hackettstown H.S. Alumnus, Class of ’82, a quiet man who tried his best to fade into the wallpaper but became affectionately known as “Dancing Bear” or simply “Bear”. He was a proud Varsity wrestler, an integral cog in the State Championship football team of ’81, and has always enjoyed the respect of his friends, coworkers and family.
After High school Chris became a Heavy Equipment Operator and later a Driver for the Teamsters union where he enjoyed a 30+ year career providing for his family. Chris has been married since 1988 to Valerie, and they had the joy of raising 2 daughters, Kayla and Alyssa.
In the fall of 2020, Chris and Valerie received the devastating news that Bear was diagnosed with gioblastoma, a fast-growing form of brain cancer. He is fighting this scourge like a true warrior, as is his nature. He has had surgery to remove the tumor and has undergone chemo and radiation and is currently undergoing infusion therapy. Chris is no longer able to work his union no longer offers a disability retirement which was crucial to keeping their medical insurance. It will be costly in COBRA payments to maintain their medical insurance. He was forced to file for SSDI which has a 24 month waiting period for Medicare disability benefit entitlement.
Every day they are incurring numerous medical bills both to cover the cost of their medical insurance and all the costs associated with the lifesaving treatments he requires. His beloved wife Valerie has had to cut down on her time at work to bring Chris to his treatments and various medical appointments.
To that end, friends of Chris and Valerie have set up a go fund me page to help offset the staggering medical costs. Chris himself would be the last person to ask for help, but he needs us all now. Please help if you are able, if not, please send your prayers.
All donations will go to alleviate the astronomical medical bills, and lost wages they are and will continue to incur.
Many thanks in advance for any and all help you can give to our friend, a great guy, loving father and husband.
Tiger Pride.
Respectfully,
Friends of Bear
