The people of St. Matthew's are an Episcopal Church in Evanston, Illinois, building Christian community in a complicated world. We want to to grow in our faith, build our community and change the world.
For many years, we were blessed with the ministry and leadership of our Associate, The Rev. Chris Griffin. Recently, Chris was diagnosed with kidney cancer. His road to health and healing has just begun. We are prayinig together, discerning by God's grace, how to acompany Chris while respecting his space and privacy. Our congregation has set up a gofundme page. We hope our generous donations will defray medical costs, help with transportation as needed and be a concrete illustration of our love and hope for Chris.
Chris served as a beloved associate at St. Matthew's Evanston for many years. Currently, he is Vicar at St. Martin's Episcopal Church located in the Austin neighborhood of Chicago.
