My name is Chris and I am raising money to have gender affirming Top Surgery in 2017. I have two beautiful children, and a wonderful, supportive wife. I embraced the need to medically transition genders when I was pregnant with our first child. Although I always knew I wasn't a woman, it took having a child to finally give me the bravery to start the journey to become who I always was: a proud father, and loving, happy husband.I started hormones in January 2016. Since then I have been happier than I could have ever imagined. I can look in the mirror now without hating what is looking back. When it came time to start thinking about top surgery, I felt so guilty because I feel like I am taking money away from my kids. Other parents save up to take their kids to Disney world, while I am scraping pennies to afford a surgery that (in a perfect world) I shouldn't need.I am a runner, and spend summers managing lifeguards. I just finished my 5th half marathon, and my binder left a deep wound across my ribs. I wonder what it is like to swim freely, and breath deeply, without fear or embarrassment.I am a good guy- and I believe in paying it forward. I have made my life's work about empowering youth, and helping them find their voice to help others and to be the best version of themselves. I want to be the best version of myself... this life altering surgery would set me free from so many aspects of my body that hold me back.
