On Friday, March 25th, Chris was scheduled for a relatively routine gallbladder surgery. All seemingly went well. After the surgery he was in some pain but he was able to go home. By 10:00pm that evening 3/25), his pain had significantly increased to the point of needing ambulance transport back to the Emergency Department. His condition continued to deteriorate over the next 24 hours.
At approximately midnight early Easter morning, Chris had to have exploratory surgery to determine what was causing his condition to worsen. It was determined that there was an error that was made during the gallbladder removal surgery where his intestine was cut. Bile was leaking into his abdomen causing a significant injury and infection leading to septic shock.
Chris has been sedated and on a ventilator fighting for his life since Easter Sunday, March 27th. He has had a total of 5 surgeries so far with a few more needed over the next several days. He is still considered to be in critical condition, but his doctors remain optimistic that he will recover.
With that said, however, he has an incredibly long and difficult road ahead. As you may know, Chris and his amazing wife, Katrina, have two wonderful children, Hannah and Cameron, who miss him terribly. Chris and Katrina would never ask for help on their own. I have started this GoFundMe to try to help ease what is sure to be an incredible amount of medical expenses. Thank you all so much for your generosity.
My brother amazes me everyday. I know he will pull through this!
Best,
Steve
