Dear St. Catherine Families and Community,

Many of you know that our dear friend, parishioner and school secretary, Chris Burr, has been diagnosed with multiple myeloma. Since her diagnosis, Chris has remained dedicated to our community, arriving at the school daily as she has for the last 32 years. She still cracks the whip when needed, delivers the witty commentary, and shows joy for our achievements and concerns for our worries. Chris is a remarkable person, a valuable resource, and someone we all rely on far beyond her secretarial duties. It is a joy and a privilege to be around her.

Unfortunately, the disease has now progressed to the point of requiring a stem cell transplant. This is disappointing news. It has been a very painful process for Chris as this recent development has pushed her to make a decision she is not happy about. It is with a very heavy heart that Chris has decided to retire her post at St. Catherine. She will need to dedicate all her attention and strength to fully fight this disease. She will need our support as she forges ahead.

Chris has taken care of us for decades. Now, we have an opportunity to help take care of her. Chris is quite modest and does not like attention, but this is something she greatly needs.  You can make a donation that will help Chris and her family with the medical procedures that lie ahead. These can cost upwards of $100k. Let's raise half that for Chris! Please help us give Chris a financial peace of mind as she enters into this grueling phase. Let’s show Chris that it is our turn to take care of her.  Please make a donation and leave words of encouragement.

A retirement party has been planned for Chris. It will be Saturday, June 25, 2016 from 5:00-9:00pm in Victoria Hall (St. Catherine Parish).  All are welcome to join us as we celebrate Chris' many years of service to our community!
