Please help us to support Chris and Julie Dejan!!! In November 2014, Chris slipped down the stairs resulting in broken ribs, a Hiatal Hernia was discovered that needed immediate attention. Chris had surgery in March, and the doctors stated it was the largest hernia they had seen. Chris was released after 1 week in the hospital only to return 4 days later due to breathing issues...His esophagus had ruptured and his body was filled with septic infection. Julie was told Chris would not make it. Three days later Chris' repair was leaking, then lungs collapsed so back into surgery.....what next?
Finally recovering enough to go home after 9+ weeks in ICU, he was released and again was back in the hospital within 12 hours for another infection. Chris was actually home for 2 months healing and preparing for the esophagus repair scheduled July 27th. After a grueling 10 hour surgery it seemed that everything was going as planned...Early the next morning the Doctors
discovered that Chris could not move his lower body....a complication from the procedure left Chris paralyzed from the waist down with no chance for recovery.
Julie and Chris are aware of the challenges that they will be facing going forward, and are ready to meet them head on with a positive outlook...in reality, they will face many financial struggles associated with mobility adjustments to the house and vehicles.
