Help Me Fight a Rare and Aggressive Cancer: Support My Treatment and Clinical Trial
Summary:
For over a year, I have been fighting Desmoplastic Small Round Cell Tumor (DSRCT), a rare and aggressive form of cancer. This disease is relentless, and despite undergoing months of intensive chemotherapy, my recent PET scan has shown that my cancer is no longer stable. The cancer is spreading, and time is running out. I am now faced with the difficult task of finding new treatment options that could give me a fighting chance.
With surgery off the table and standard treatments proving insufficient, I am seeking to join a clinical trial in Los Angeles led by Dr. Sant Chawla, a world-renowned specialist in sarcoma research. The trial involves the drug Lurbinectedin, which shows promise in targeting rare cancers like mine. It’s a ray of hope in a situation that has become increasingly dire.
However, accessing this trial comes with significant financial burdens. In addition to ongoing medical expenses from my chemotherapy and cancer care, the costs of traveling to Los Angeles, staying there for the duration of the trial, and managing everyday needs are immense. With no ability to work due to my condition, I am struggling to cover these mounting expenses. That’s why I’m reaching out for your support.
Why Your Help Matters:
Every dollar raised will directly go toward critical needs, including:
Travel and Lodging: Housing cost while I am there and travel cost to see my family.
Medical Expenses: The ongoing costs of my cancer care, medications, and treatments outside the clinical trial.
Living Costs: Daily expenses for food, transportation, and other essentials during my treatment.
The financial burden of cancer is something I never imagined I would have to face, but it’s an unfortunate reality for many patients. I’ve already gone through multiple rounds of chemotherapy, endured side effects, and dealt with the emotional toll that comes with a terminal diagnosis. Now, I’m asking for help to access the one opportunity that could give me a chance to slow down this disease and buy more time.
My Journey:
For those of you who may not know me personally, I lost my wife to cancer in 2019, and not long after, I was diagnosed with this rare form of cancer myself. It’s been a tough journey—both physically and emotionally—and while I’ve fought with everything I have, my options are becoming limited. My cancer is primarily located in my lymph nodes, and while some tumors initially responded to chemotherapy, the disease has now progressed.
Despite the grim prognosis, I remain determined to fight for as much time as I can, and this clinical trial offers a new hope. Dr. Chawla’s work with Lurbinectedin is groundbreaking, and if this treatment works, it could help me—and others like me—who are battling this rare cancer.
