Chris VanderWal - Corticobasal Degeneration
Donation protected
For my birthday this year I would like to collect donations for my dad. Over the course of the past 2 years many of our questions have gone unanswered.
On December 16th my dad was diagnosed with a very rare disease known as Corticobasal Syndrome. In this disease portions of your brain begin to shrink overtime and nerve cells begin to die.
In such a short time, I have watched my dad regress tremendously and truthfully I feel helpless. I am reaching out because my dad and I need help. I want him to live an abundant life and I want to give him the best 4-8 years that he may have left. My goal is to give him access to in home physical therapy equipment to help him stay independent and mobile for as long as possible. This diagnosis has forced him to resign from his job and omit his license and ability to drive. Without steady income and transportation, the number of fees and bills that will arise in the following weeks, months, and years are shocking.
My plan for the money that is generously donated, will be to help purchase equipment for in the home, help off load travel expenses (to and from U of M), doctor visits, and weekly groceries.
If you feel it in your heart we ask that you either donate or share a prayer for my dad, myself and my family as we take the next steps. Each prayer and donation will help to achieve the smoothest transition possible. We appreciate all the prayers and encouragement we've received throughout this trying time. My family and I have felt a blanket of peace as we enter into a season of uncontrollable's. We continue to rejoice in knowing that God has wrapped us all in His arms and He is in control no matter the circumstances.
