Hello, this is being put together at the request of Susin Towers, written by Amanda Steckler, on behalf of Chris Towers. Chris was born on January 5th, 1948 and lived in El Paso (Horizon) Texas - she is survived by her two grandchildren Susin Towers and Megan Towers, as well as a great granddaughter Amalia Elaine James and another great grandchild on the way. Chris also had two children who are no longer with us, Beth and David, whom she loved and remembered fondly. Here’s a little bit about Chris Towers and why this GoFundMe is being made.

Chris Towers was someone you only needed to meet once to have a lifelong impression of, but if you were lucky enough then you got to be in her life from then on. She was a teacher for 33 years, possibly one of the most loved teachers to have ever taught at Eastwood High School. This is because even though her class was known as one of the toughest, the students who didn’t get good grades still loved her. It wasn’t just the students who loved Ms. Towers, it was her colleagues that cherished her as well. Chris was still friends with many students and fellow teachers right up until she left us. Maybe even more than a teacher at heart, she was an avid animal lover. She never met an animal she didn’t do all she could to help or take in when she could. Chris loved to sit and watch TV with her cats and dogs and looked forward to their “bone time” after dinner. This huge hearted and kind will was shared with people in her life as well, even if they could do nothing in return for Chris, that wasn’t a concern in her decision to help someone. And last, her intelligence cannot be overstated; she has read through thousands of books in her life, if not more. Chris spoke Middle English, she was a professor at EPCC, she was a pistol if you ever word-sparred with her… so why are we making this page?

Chris Towers went into The Hospitals of Providence East (on Edgemere and Joe Battle) in El Paso, TX for what was supposed to be an “in and out” procedure to decompress her spine and give her some pain relief that she definitely needed and deserved. She went in on Tuesday, February 21st 2023, should have been home and walking by the next day - Wednesday, but had passed away by Saturday, February 25th 2023. This wasn’t a simple matter of age, this was negligent and cruel regard toward Ms. Towers despite the clear signs of what was wrong. Along with Susin and my own pleading with the staff. It was told to the staff over and over that this was not normal behavior of Ms. Towers; in addition, we were asked countless times when it started and each time we answered, including informing them when we weren’t asked. Not to mention, Suzy wasn’t called when they knew there was a problem and had to go to the hospital in person just to get someone to talk to her and let her know what was going on. In short, Chris is no longer here to see her grandchildren or great grandchildren live their lives because she got the care she needed when it was far too late.

The funds Susin (Chris’ sidekick for many years) is requesting are to go for legal steps to start the process, as well as the funeral itself. Susin and her husband are still new parents and I myself am a college student, so we are coming to the internet for assistance. This money will be used to get some sort of justice for this wicked sharp, kind, generous woman that Chris was, as well as putting together a send off that she would love to attend.

If you are able to donate, please do as it will:
  • give Ms. Towers the justice and care she deserved / deserves
  • bring her family and loved ones some closure
  • give her a going away that is fitting of a wonderful lady like her
And if you cannot donate, then please help us by sharing everywhere you can. Thank you so much for reading about Chris Towers.
