This is Christopher's story
Over the past year, Chris has lost approximately 40 lbs. and he can’t put any weight back on. His primary physician has ordered various tests, but no answers could be found. A few months ago, Chris also mentioned that he had a spot on his ear that started out looking like a pimple, but grew into a bigger lump. The doctor thought it looked suspicious, removed it and sent it to pathology.
Pathology determined that it was cancer and Chris was diagnosed with Melanoma. His cancer was treated at U of M, where they surgically removed his left ear lobe.
In addition to this, over the past couple years, Chris began to have symptoms of tingling and numbness in his hands and feet which has progressed up into his legs. Chris is also experiencing symptoms of dizziness, loss of balance and fatigue. Until recently, they were unable to diagnose what he had. He was recently referred to a neurologist in regards to this. The neurologist ordered several tests, one being an (MRI) of the brain. After noticing several white spots on the brain, the doctor had suspicions, but needed to do a spinal tap to confirm the diagnosis.
The spinal tap confirmed what the doctor thought – Chris also has MS (Multiple Sclerosis). They are now working on getting medication for him. No medication will cure it, but it will slow the progress.
Chris is a hard working, single parent. Happy, friendly and loving. He is also the Best Dad Ever. Chris is a devoted, and very much “hands on” Dad to Aiden. He coaches his hockey teams, supports his music, and interest in history. All of which is being affected by what is happening to Chris. All of this has taken a Tremendous strain on him Financially, & emotionally, not to even mention the toll on his family. His Mother, Debbie, has been there every step of the way, and has been a pillar of strength and will continue to do so as he navigates through this most difficult time.
Chris is a very private man, who does not share his burdens nor is he one to complain. But we know he is struggling now and we are asking for any help you can give him. With all the mounting medical bills, Surgeries, Tests, medications, not to mention just paying regular everyday living expenses… things are getting pretty tough. No amount is too small. Trust me, it all adds up!
If you have questions, you can personal message Debbie Helsen, Mitzi Carlson or Nancy Maus a message on Facebook.
Thank you in advance for any Monetary donations, Love and Prayers that you can offer. We are Very Grateful.
