Our absolute wonder of a husband, father and grandad, Chris Russell passed away at Greenwich and Bexley Community Hospice on 01/10/2025.
This was Dad's third battle with terminal cancer and though he fought even harder than he did the first two times he beat it, it wasn't to be this time.
We got longer with Dad than we thought possible thanks to the dedication and care of the team at Greenwich and Bexley Community Hospice. Every aspect of care he received from the nurses and HCA's was exceptional, from the medical care to the extra care taken to keep him feeling like himself, they treated him like the wonderful person he was.
Dad actually had two stays in the Hospice. His first stay was for three weeks in June/July this year - when he got there, both he and we thought that he wasn't coming home, yet with the previously mentioned level of care he received from them he not only came home but was able to assume a (albeit light) version of the life he had before he went in, between his indomitable will and their expertise in every area we got our Dad back for another few months.
We are humbly asking for donations we can pass on entirely to Greenwich and Bexley Cottage Hospice as a small token of our gratitude for giving us not only more time with Dad but affording him the level of dignity he deserved and had earned for the last few weeks of his life.
Any donation is and will be appreciated, so much, thank you for taking the time to read this.
We love and miss you, Dad, we hope we can continue to make you proud.
