I have spoken with Chris, and she wants everyone to know that, first and foremost, she is OK.
Thankfully she safely escaped just before the fire overtook the neighborhood, but barely got away with only her car and a single bag. She is staying with friends for now, but we're still unsure when FEMA, The Red Cross, let alone the insurance companies, will be able to start addressing the massive damage to the area. She has lost her home and everything in it.
Here is a picture of Chris' neighborhood before the fires:
And here's a picture from Wednesday after the fires:
As you can see, her entire neighborhood has been burned to the ground. Many of Chris's friends have asked me what they can do to help. With Chris' permission I started this GoFundMe campaign.
My name is Eric Reasons, and I'm a close friend to Chris. All donations to this campaign will go directly to Chris Roehl to cover intermediate expenses before aid agencies or insurance companies eventually step in to help cover her loss. I'm just here for technical support and to spread the word.
We're not sure how long Chris will be without a home, or what the next steps are with so many people affected by such widespread destruction, or how long it will take aid agencies and insurance companies to begin to take care of these people. In the meantime, I'm hoping we can raise enough money to give Chris some immediate relief and take care of her immediate needs.
Many of you know Chris well, some of you have even visited or stayed in her home. If you can help in even the smallest way, it would help Chris get back on her feet, so please consider contributing. Also, please share this campaign with anyone who knows Chris, and is looking for a way to help.
Thank you so much.
